Google-backed Anthropic Launches Claude Chatbot Across Europe
Anthropic, an Amazon and Google-backed AI firm, has launched its powerful Claude chatbot in Europe, which has great language abilities and real-time information access. Cointelegraph put it to the test. Anthropic, an artificial intelligence (AI) firm, has announced that their AI chatbot Claude is now accessible in Europe for usage by consumers and companies, according to a blog post.
Highlights:
- Anthropic's AI chatbot Claude is now available in Europe, offering language proficiency and real-time information access.
- Accessible via web and iOS apps, supports European languages like French, German, Spanish, and Italian.
- Launch follows Claude 3 debut in the US and earlier Claude API release in Europe for developers.

On May 14, the business said that its AI assistant is now available through its web and iOS apps, with "strong levels of comprehension and fluency" in many European languages, including French, German, Spanish, and Italian.
The development comes after the debut of Claude 3, the company's most sophisticated image analysis system, in the United States in March 2024. Previously, Europeans could only access the chatbot using a virtual private network (VPN).
The announcement comes shortly after Anthropic launched the Claude API in Europe earlier this year, allowing developers to incorporate the company's AI models into applications, websites, or services.
Cointelegraph followed out to Anthropic for more details on the European rollout.
Users on X have commented on Claude's arrival in Europe, saying that, while ChatGPT continues to dominate in thinking, Claude is exhibiting better eloquence in writing.
While writing quality is subjective, our European reporter Savannah Fortis tested Claude 3 in a modest head-to-head against ChatGPT. In both cases, the free chatbots were employed.
When asked to "write a short poem about Europe," both chatbots included significant elements from numerous European countries in the substance of the poem.
However, Claude's writing style stood out, and he was more precise in delivering a "short poem" with only a few stanzas.
Claude's poetry was more coherent as a whole tale, whereas ChatGPT had excellent rhymes on subject, but they seemed more like sentences strung together than like a story.
Anthropic was formed in 2021 by former OpenAI developers. Over the last year, it has received investments from some of the greatest names in technology, including Amazon, which pledged up to $4 billion in September 2023, and Google, which committed $2 billion the following month.
On April 5, Anthropic released a beta of its feature "tool use" for all Anthropic Message API users of the Claude suite of creative artificial intelligence (AI) models.
This allows for real-time information lookup, access, and integration of third-party features into Claude's workflow, as well as the ability for users to add code snippets to their accounts, allowing Claude to include outside information into chats.
